My brother may have passed away but I remember the good times we had whenever he would take me with him on his trips to St. Jude. We would always take the trolley down to Beale Street and go to Rendezvous for dinner. We would both order ribs with extra barbecue sauce and by the end of the night our faces would be covered with barbecue sauce. After we cleaned ourselves up, we would head over to the malt shop for dessert. I would get vanilla ice cream with sprinkles and chocolate sauce and my brother would get mint chocolate chip with butterfinger crumbles.

I always thought that was a weird combination mint with peanut butter. We would walk up and down Beale Street stopping occasionally to watch the street performers or just listen to the sounds of bands playing jazz with their trumpets, trombones and saxophones. I remember once after listening to a saxophone player, he asked me if I would like to give it a try.

I was not sure at first but, after my brother told me to give it a shot I took the saxophone and gave it a go. My brother and the man laughed as I tried my hardest to keep a steady tune until I was red in the face. Dusk turned into night fast and by that time I was too tired to stay awake any longer. My brother would pick me up and carry me to the trolley which took us back to the hotel where we could get a good nights sleep.
